The study recruited 27 participants with a long-term history of depression, most of whom had been experiencing depressive symptoms for approximately two years before recruitment. After screening, participants were randomized into one of two groups, with one group receiving the intervention immediately and the other group after an eight-week waiting period.
Psilocybin Treatment Efficacy
The results of the study showed that psilocybin treatment in both groups led to significant improvements in depressive symptoms, with 71% of participants showing a clinically significant response to treatment at the 12-month follow-up.
