The Indonesian government, led by Deputy Minister of Defence General (Ret.) Muhammad Herindra, has entered into a comprehensive cooperation agreement with Naval Group, a global leader in naval defense solutions. This strategic alliance aims to empower Indonesia’s defense industry while promoting economic growth and job creation.
The newly acquired submarines belong to the Scorpene Evolved class, featuring advanced lithium-ion battery technology for extended endurance and operational range. These submarines boast impressive specifications, including a surfaced displacement between 1,600 and 2,000 tons, an overall length of 72 meters, and a maximum speed of over 20 knots when submerged. With a dive depth exceeding 300 meters, these vessels offer exceptional maneuverability and stealth capabilities.
