mRNA cancer vaccines have demonstrated the ability to activate multiple arms of the immune system, including B cells, CD4+ and CD8+ T cells. Preliminary data from the Moderna melanoma neoantigen vaccine appears promising in the Phase 2 study, indicating the potential of mRNA vaccines in cancer treatment. The investigational mRNA pancreatic cancer vaccine, Autogene cevumeran (BNT122, RO7198457), has also shown encouraging results. Developed through a collaboration between BioNTech and Genentech, this vaccine has been customized to target neoantigens found exclusively in each patient’s tumor, alerting the immune system to the presence of cancer cells.
