The Lunar Orbital Platform-Gateway is a collaborative effort between NASA and international partners, including Roscosmos, the European Space Agency, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, and the Canadian Space Agency. This multinational collaboration aims to establish a permanent human presence in lunar orbit, serving as a gateway to deep space exploration, including the moon and Mars.
The Gateway will be powered by the Power and Propulsion Element (PPE), a module that will supply electrical power and chemical and electrical propulsion to the station. The PPE is a foundational component of the lunar outpost and the most powerful solar electric spacecraft ever flown, providing 60kW of electrical power to power the station’s subsystems and solar electric propulsion (SEP) system.
