SunGreenH2’s proprietary electrodes are designed to double hydrogen production while consuming 20% lower renewable energy than conventional electrolyzer technologies. This reduction in energy consumption leads to a 50% decrease in plant stack capital expenditure (capex) primarily through increased hydrogen output and reduced use of expensive precious metals.
The company’s electrodes are stable at very high current densities, enabling developed membrane electrode assemblies to operate at higher current densities, resulting in higher hydrogen production and longer lifespans than conventional membrane electrode assemblies.
Critical mineral dependence is a significant barrier to the scale-up of electrolyzers. SunGreenH2’s breakthrough is the achievement of increased performance at 30x lower use of iridium and platinum, addressing this challenge and paving the way for scalable and sustainable green hydrogen production.
